| This spectacular coatee (short coat) was worn by an officer of the 37th (North Hampshire) Regiment of Foot. The 37th arrived in Canada in August of 1814 and served along the Niagara frontier and other posts. Of a high quality scarlet broadcloth with yellow facings and silvered regimental buttons it reflects the class difference between the rough brick red woolen coats worn by the rank and file. |
